I am thankful for my wonderful neighbor who provided a thermometer and (later) hot veggie soup last night when I was running almost 102. I am thankful for another day to get over this bug. I am thankful that my class coordinators (from 3 classes) carried on without me and that the Careers in the Health Professions class enjoyed the visit from an ND. I am thankful for another day to try to get to all the things I haven’t done such as pick up the mail, do laundry, etc. that I keep putting off until I feel better.

I am grateful for neighbors who moved the sod the young man I hired didn’t bother to move, to ease the slope in the backyard. I am grateful for a weekend to catch up with writing, reading, and chores in spite of frequent naps because of this darn cold. I am grateful for the lovely warmth that allowed me to walk outside and take pictures with my phone and get stuff caught in my mom’s fuzzy socks (she would understand). I am grateful that my son was able to keep food down today even if he still has no appetite. I am grateful for tomorrow to see if I can kick this bug.

I am grateful for a weekend when I hope to catch up on writing and bills, but mostly, sleep. I am grateful for a warm day when I could open the door and watch the birds at the feeder.

I am grateful that they decided not to go back in to drain an abscess for son Dale (but hope the course of antibiotics will do the trick.) I am grateful for a day off tomorrow to sleep in, write (and maybe go to the co-op), and, with luck, get over this cold. I am grateful for a great group of peer advisors in my office, a patient office coordinator who keeps it all together when my brain is mush, and students whose goal is to heal others.

I am grateful my son didn’t waste time getting to the doctor this time so the abscess will be taken care of in the morning. I am grateful for all the students I met with today and then tonight at the meeting for the class of 2014. I am grateful for hot chamomile tea before bed.

I am grateful for a houseful of organic veggie food. I am grateful I was able to place a few rocks in the succulent labyrinth. i am grateful that my son calls me on Sundays from Wichita and that he is feeling somewhat better after his appendectomy and the loss of his dear friend, Randy Storms and his wife and dog. I am grateful for a talk with my friend, Pat. I am grateful for an early evening to go to bed in an attempt to shake this cold (even if I don’t get the memoir written for the class I am taking.) I am grateful for friends and students on facebook.
